T-Systems opens Germany's largest data center in Saxony-Anhalt

Saxony-Anhalt Deutsche Telekom's corporate customer arm, T-Systems, has opened the largest cloud data center in Germany in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt. By the end of the roll-out phase it will also be one of the largest in Europe. The city of Biere, near the state capital Magdeburg, won the competition for the most suitable location for the project.

The data center operates under the strictest security measures in response to increasing demand for secure cloud services. The new data center complements an existing T-Systems data center in Magdeburg, which is fitted out identically. Both work as a twin-core data center in tandem, storing data redundantly to guarantee its accessibility at all times, in case one of the centers goes offline. "Investments in future technologies are just as important. With our two T-Systems data centers, we now play in the major league of IT locations," said Dr. Reiner Haseloff, Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt.

Investors in Saxony-Anhalt benefit from its location in the center of Europe and its state-of-the-art infrastructure, a highly skilled and motivated workforce, its excellent investment incentives and very competitive cost structure. Saxony-Anhalt offers an outstanding research landscape and culture of innovation.

"Why do I read Site Selection?"
Your magazine has been helpful to me. I look to the regional reports. This is work I don't do all the time. To get in the groove, and see what those who do it all the time are doing, it helps to get your head in the game.
