Wind turbine giant ENERCON opens new site in Saxony-Anhalt

Saxony-Anhalt ENERCON, one of Europe’s largest suppliers of wind-energy turbines, opened its new manufacturing plant in the German federal state of Saxony-Anhalt in January. The company says the new facility in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt’s state capital, has created 250 new jobs. ENERCON will produce generators and rotor blade blanks at the site.

This is ENERCON’s fourth production site in Saxony-Anhalt, where the company has generated 4,700 jobs since 1998. It affirms the strategic, multimodal value of the Magdeburg-Rothensee industrial site, emphasized Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Dr. Reiner Haseloff at the commissioning of the new production site. “It was worthwhile investing in a modern infrastructure here, which allows the interconnection of road, rail and water,” he explained.

Investors in Saxony-Anhalt benefit from its central location in the heart of Europe, its state-of-the-art infrastructure, the availability of a highly skilled and motivated workforce, an outstanding research landscape and a culture of innovation.
