New England States Launch
New Business-Expansion Strategies ![]()
Pfizer Pharmaceuticals' new research and development facility in New London, Conn., is expected to draw other life science companies to the region, boosting Connecticut's bioscience cluster in the southeastern part of the state.
A case in point is Pfizer Pharmaceuticals' new, 750,000-sq.-ft. (69,675-sq.-m.) research and development facility in New London, Conn. Pfizer says the site is the largest privately funded biomedical research project in the world. Connecticut officials point to the state's bioscience cluster as a lucrative lure for such investments. Other New England states have targeted specific industries, such as captive insurance companies, with tax programs and fewer regulations.
