Vendor Alliance Drives Industrial Purchasing Efficiencies

Adding efficiency to the procurement and logistics functions is a welcome step forward in any organization. Technology can now automate much of these tasks, ultimately bringing expense relief to the bottom line. One example of this is Freight Quotes, a service that is the product of a strategic alliance between Thomas Regional and freightquote.com. The point of the service is to complete the purchasing loop for buyers of industrial products and services, including shipping services.
New York-based Thomas Regional Directory Co. is a provider of information about industrial suppliers. The company has made the purchasing process more efficient for customers with custom quoting and purchasing features, but the new feature takes the process a step further. Freightquote.com, based in Lenexa, Kan., is a leading B2B freight logistics company that maintains relationships with a range of freight carriers throughout North America.
Freight Quotes is now accessible at all times on Thomas Regional's Web site (www.thomasregional.com), giving buyers the ability to request competitively priced quotes and to complete their transactions in real time. Buyers of industrial products and services can access Freight Quotes free of charge; they pay only for the shipping services they order. They can receive quotes from multiple carriers, select a carrier, schedule a pick up and print a bill of lading online. Users know the complete price of the transaction before completing the purchase, saving time and expense associated with finalizing this information.
