Award-winning Technology Center
Designed with the Business Leader in Mind

Following months of planning, developing and partnering of resources, the Southern Kentucky Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce the availability of space in the Valley Oak Technology Complex.
Located in the southern portion of Kentucky, the complex's $2-million infrastructure project is slated for completion by November 2003, and the Southern Kentucky Information Technology Center, the "spec" anchor facility, is scheduled to be completed in January 2004.

Southern Kentucky Information Technology Center will be completed in December 2003 and is currently available for lease.

The Valley Oak Technology Complex is a 150-acre (61-hectare) regional technology park designed to attract technology-intensive, knowledge-based companies to Somerset/ Pulaski County, Kentucky. The complex is owned by the Somerset/Pulaski County Development Foundation and is expected to create 1,000 new high-tech jobs in the region over the next 10 years.
This complex is located in the heart of the Fifth Congressional District served by U.S. Representative Harold "Hal" Rogers.
Congressman Rogers provided the vision and leadership necessary to develop the project. "We've pulled together the resources of economic development professionals and our local, state, and federal officials to make this state-of-the-art business center a reality," said Rogers. "Together, we are transforming this region and creating an infrastructure that can attract high-tech businesses and the jobs they create."
Aside from the aesthetic beauty of the rural Kentucky landscape, a main feature of the park is a 6.3-mile (10-km.) run of 48-strand dark fiber to the local AT&T POP. This unique attribute of the park can be a major source of cost reduction for companies that utilize large amounts of Internet bandwidth.
The Southern Kentucky Information Technology Center, recognized as a 2002 Innovation Award winner by the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) in October 2002, is a 16,400-sq.-ft. (1,524--sq.-m.) modern, high-tech office building designed to attract technology-based companies to the Valley Oak Technology Park.
The IT center, which is now available for lease, takes full advantage of the complex's fiber-based connectivity and dual independent electric substations. Coupled with the reliability and redundancy of the self-healing Alltel OC-48 SONET ring, companies locating into the technology center will enjoy a level of telecommunications access usually reserved for large metropolitan areas.
The award-winning building was designed by Taylor-Whitney Architects of Lexington, Kentucky and was built on the 4-acre (1.6-hectare) site by Hacker Brothers, Inc. of Corbin, Kentucky.
