Central to solving the logistics challenges faced by the Alabama site was the pledge by the Alabama State Port Authority to construct this $115- million facility on Pinto Island for transferring steel from ocean- going vessels to barges. The terminal's 60 permanent jobs will be just one small part of the spinoff from the steelmaking complex upriver.
