Mississippi Power streamlines site selection through Project Ready Certified Site Program
O
ne of the fastest growing trends in the site location business is the demand for project-ready industrial sites. Companies looking to build new facilities want sites that are ready-to-go and relatively "risk free." Recognizing this trend Mississippi Power Company has initiated the Project Ready Certified Site Program. The Project Ready Certified Site Program identifies appropriate sites for attracting new manufacturing, warehouse/distribution facilities, and high technology industries to southeast Mississippi. Mississippi Power has partnered with McCallum Sweeney Consulting to design and implement a customized program specifically for the 23 counties of this region. This objective third-party certification offers the credible evidence necessary to affect companies' site selection decisions. Certified Sites undergo a rigorous screening process to ensure that certain criteria are met in order to carry the Project Ready Certification seal of approval. The first criterion requires that the site must be currently available for sale preferably with established terms and conditions. The site must also be fully served. If all utilities are not already at the site, then plans must have been developed that include costs and timelines to complete installation. Finally, the land must be certified to be developable. Any wetlands must be delineated and mitigated and all environmental assessments with mitigation if necessary must have been completed. Site owners or managers have done all of the pre-work to tell an industry exactly what it will take, what it will cost, and how long it will take to move their facilities to that site. Mississippi Power offers a variety of sites and a professional staff that can guide prospects through every step of the site selection process, all in strict confidence. Sites available include mega-sites, large industrial, general industrial, industrial parks and technology parks. Why Mississippi? Join the 60 other Fortune 500 companies who call Mississippi home.
