The Elko Daily Free Press reports that Swedish mining and infrastructure equipment and services company Epiroc is moving its service center in Elko into a new 48,000-sq.-ft. National Competency Center. “The Competency Center in Elko, which is under construction today, is the key milestone in achieving the vision and delivering on the strategies we have set for 2023 in Nevada,” James Halladay, Competency Center manager, told the paper. “Not only will these operations provide a high level of service to customers in the region — these locations are critical to our future growth and success in the U.S. market.” Based in Stockholm, Epiroc’s U.S. headquarters is in Broomfield, Colorado. Epirock and Fordia Powered by Epiroc, a manufacturer of exploration drilling tools for mineral exploration, originally introduced an Exploration Competency Center in Elko in May 2021. “With the company’s focus on surface and underground mining equipment, its largest facility in the United States is in Elko,” reported the Daily Free Press. “The new Competency Center will approximately double the size of Epiroc’s current Elko facilities.”
