After celebrating its 70th year operating in Brazil, global technology company Hitachi Energy has plans to expand its presence in São Paulo by 2028. Last week, the company announced a $200 million investment into the Guarulhos transformer manufacturing plant. “We are experiencing unprecedented momentum in the energy industry, with the energy transition demanding all the relevant stakeholders to collaborate and take urgent action toward a more sustainable future for all,” said Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Managing Director Bruno Melles. “At Hitachi Energy we are leading this change and investing to expand our global footprint, to meet our customers’ long-term needs and positively impact our communities.” Transformers produced at the site support a number of applications within transportation, grid interconnections and powering data centers. Once complete, the expansion will create 600 new jobs.

Cara Partners looks to expand its product portfolio from the company’s Little Island facility in Ireland.

Schwabe Group affiliate and bulk pharmaceutical manufacturer Cara Partners has announced a new investment into its Little Island site, located in the southern Ireland city of Cork. The company’s $138 million modernization project will allow the facility to produce 15 more active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) products, in addition to extraction of the Ginkgo Biloba API. In total, the project will create 60 new jobs in the region, focusing on roles withing management, production and IT. “From the inception, Schwabe, a family owned and run business working with Cara Partners, have developed an excellent culture in Cork, both in terms of the technical ability of the staff and a very innovative fulfilling environment,” said Cara Partners General Manager Stephen Kenny. “We in Cara Partners look forward to implementing this exciting group strategic investment plan over the coming years.”

Meta will establish its 22nd U.S. data center and first location in South Carolina in Aiken County.

Meta has announced its official arrival in South Carolina following news of a planned $800 million data center. The Sage Mill Industrial Park, located in Aiken County, will soon be home to the 715,000-sq.-ft. data center which will run on 100% renewable energy. “We are excited to make Aiken County our new home and are committed to playing a positive role here and investing in the community’s long-term vitality,” said Meta Data Center Strategy Director Kevin Janda. “South Carolina stood out as an outstanding location for our newest data center thanks to its great access to infrastructure and energy, deep pool of talent, and amazing community partners.” The facility is anticipated to be operational by 2027, creating 100 new jobs.
