to Old Mexico

Albuquerque is moving up various charts in terms of ideal places to do business. Metro Albuquerque placed 34th out of 200 large metro areas in the annual Forbes and Milken Institute survey of best metropolitan areas in which to do business and advance a career. The city ranks No. 1 among medium-sized cities and No. 8 overall on the Creativity Index, a measurement created by Carnegie Mellon University professor Richard Florida to assess the ability of cities to attract creative professionals in all walks of life. Sante Fe ranked No. 1 among cities under 250,000.
        LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, based in Irvine, Calif., opened an office in Albuquerque in June, which will eventually employ up to 250. The company helps 250,000 patients monitor their diseases through the Internet and interacts with more than 40,000 doctors in the U.S. Roger de Lusignan, the LifeMasters' vice president of operations, touted Albuquerque for its availability of labor.
        State and local economic developers hope to draw more maquila suppliers to New Mexico. Marketing efforts have concentrated on the Midwest and target industries include automotive parts, precision metal machining , consumer electronics and plastic injection molding manufacturers.
