![]() Utah United As of spring 2003, the state of Utah was pursuing 33 different out-of-state recruitment projects, 10 in the manufacturing sector and 18 in the state's much-prized business services sector. As it turned out, one of the most visible in-state names has made the biggest site selection splash of the year so far.Franklin Covey Coaching announced in July that instead of fleeing to Illinois, it would stay in the state, moving 2.2 miles west from the Franklin Covey campus in Salt Lake City to West Valley City to occupy a new campus. The company bought two buildings with a total of 200,000 sq. ft. (18, 580 sq. m.), as well as adjacent acreage. The company's 356 employees will begin occupying a portion of that existing office space in September 2003, with much of the rest available for lease.
"We found a valuable work force in the Salt Lake valley and felt strongly about the benefits of investing in this market with our company and new buildings," said David Ellis, president of the company, which conducts coaching for Rich Dad Coaching, Tom Hopkins Sales Mastery and Franklin Covey, among others. The LLC's biggest client is Carleton Sheets, whose Chicago base was at least partly behind the site search. |
