IAMC Gives Professional Economic Developers
Separate Membership Status
The IAMC Board of Directors has established Economic Development Organizations as a separate Associate Membership Category.
This move demonstrates the significant role economic development organizations play in the site selection/new investment process. They perform a valuable service to both corporate real estate executives as well as to many of the service providers such as site selection consultants. "I thought this move made a great deal of sense," says IAMC Chairman Jack Brophy. "As this organization matures and new members come on board, we wanted to align ourselves with the changing market. This is necessitated by the different needs of our Associate members."
IAMC Endorses Development Alliance
The IAMC Board of Directors enthusiastically endorsed the Development Alliance Web site (www.developmentalliance.com) as the primary source of information that can be used by corporate real estate and asset management executives to determine the business demographics of U.S. cities and communities.
The International Economic Developers Council (IEDC) and Site Selection, co-creators of the Development Alliance, have designed this powerful tool to cater directly to the corporate real estate and economic development professional. The Web site, already featured by Forbes magazine's Web site as its "Relocation Calculator," offers standard up-to-date business demographics for every county in every state. One exciting aspect of the site that any city can take advantage of is its Enhanced Community Profile capability. Already, Cleveland, Miami-Dade and Okla-homa City have elected to provide enhanced community data through the Development Alliance Web site that can be accessed by any company looking to expand. The Development Alliance site is free to any company or economic developer to use in its research and analysis of new and potential corporate sites in the United States. Cities, states, regional development authorities and other specific community interest groups may offer enhanced profiles of themselves on the Development Alliance site for a fee.
