Member Organizations Team Up on Megasites
Tennessee Valley Authority is in the midst of creating
a certification program for large industrial "megasites" of 700 to 1,000
acres (283 to 405 hectares) within its territory. To find a partner consultant
for the project, TVA issued a request for information to more than 200
consultants and negotiated with the top 13 consultants capable of providing
site evaluation services before selecting fellow IAMC member firm McCallum
Sweeney.
"The industrial megasites certification program will help attract more jobs and improve the quality of life for the people in the region," said IAMC member and TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. Ed McCallum, senior principal of McCallum Sweeney, is also an IAMC member. TVA has also established www.TVA.com, a GIS site that allows users to search throughout TVA's 80,000-sq.-m. (207,200-sq.-km.), seven-state territory The Behr site, foreground, is near facilities operated by Ryder/Philips Electronics, Bridgestone/ Firestone and AmerisourceBergen.
