late January 2005, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp.
announced a new name for its railway subsidiary BNSF Railway Company
as well as new corporate and subsidiary logos. "BNSF has identified
itself as progressive, vital, approachable and resourceful a strong
part of the global transportation network," said BNSF Corp. Chairman,
President and CEO Matt Rose. "As we look to the future, we believe that
our identity should reflect those core attributes." Soon after that
Smyrna, Ga.-based The Facility Group has named Clint Mays executive vice president and COO. Mays is responsible for managing and overseeing the Construction Group, including pre-construction, project execution, subcontractor selection, bidding and purchasing, safety and project construction control. J. Michael Colvin, senior vice president of the firm, is an IAMC service provider member. Holcim (US) Inc.'s Swiss parent company in January 2005 made a bid for U.K.-based Aggregate Industries, which operates 142 quarries, 164 ready-mix concrete plants, 90 asphalt plants and 32 precast concrete plants in the U.S. and U.K. Kathy Shanteau, real estate manager for Holcim (US) Inc., is an IAMC corporate member. Among four general contracts awarded by Toyota in January 2005 for its San Antonio plant were the assembly building and press/body weld/plant office general contracts awarded to a joint venture between Detroit, Mich.-based Walbridge Aldinger, a global firm based in Detroit, and Texas-based Bartlett Cocke General Contractors. David Bourgeois, assistant director support assets for Walbridge Aldinger, is an IAMC corporate member. BASF AG has announced it will close superabsorbent polymer plants in Virginia and Mississippi once a newly announced production facility in Freeport, Texas, is operational in 2007. Also, the company's $2.9-billion complex in Nanjing, China officially started up in December 2004. IAMC Board member Bill Pearson, director real estate, and Charles Waltz, inactive sites manager, are IAMC members. Commercial real estate firm NAI is launching operations in six cities in India, where it projects enormous space needs over the next decade to meet growing demand. NAI affiliate executives from seven different U.S. cities are IAMC service provider members. According to an October 2004 report in the Business Journal of Minneapolis-St. Paul, engine filter manufacturer Donaldson Co. Inc. is busy. While building a new plant in China, Donaldson is also expanding at plants in Greeneville, Tenn., Italy, Australia and the Czech Republic. James A. Martin, director of real estate, construction and asset management for the Bloomington, Minn.-based company, is an IAMC member. Boston-based corporate real estate advisory firm CRESA Partners and Houston-based facility management firm Linc Facility Services announced in January 2005 an exclusive alliance that will allow them to bundle their services into one offering. Judi Hilton, national director of operations for CRESA Partners, is an IAMC service provider member.
