CenterPoint Intermodal Centers:
Connecting You to the Global Supply Chain
C
enterPoint Properties has developed two of the nation's largest intermodal hubs, including the 770- acre BNSF Logistics Park Chicago in Elwood, Illinois (40 miles southwest of Chicago) and the 1,200- acre Union Pacific Global III in Rochelle, Illinois (70 miles west of Chicago). CenterPoint is developing large- scale industrial business parks directly adjacent to these facilities, helping customers cut supply chain costs while establishing a premiere location for distribution centers.
Each intermodal business park provides the following opportunities:
• Direct intermodal service to your building 24- 7
CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Elwood
• Drayage rates to your building below $70 per FEU
• Location in a designated foreign trade zone
• Container yard located on- site or directly adjacent to avoid demurrage, detention or other delays
• Up to five turns per day into the ramp, providing faster inbound velocity
• Serving the same market reach as your competitor, but at lower distribution center costs.
Today's most sophisticated logistics departments are challenged by the sheer volume of cargo and are focused on minimizing overall supply- chain costs in the most efficient manner. When deciding where to locate, where to expand and with whom, CenterPoint Intermodal Centers provide solutions that combine multiple steps in the supply chain at one location. Metropolitan Chicago is the country's hottest industrial real estate market for big- box import distribution and is the cornerstone of most distribution models. Each of the six Class- 1 railroads import containers into Chicago for regional distribution.
CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Elwood
CenterPoint Intermodal Center in Elwood, Illinois, features an ultra- modern, 1,200- acre industrial park adjacent to the 770- acre BNSF Logistics Park Chicago. With more than 7.5 million square feet developed in less than five years, the industrial park will eventually encompass more than 12 million square feet of distribution centers and container handling yards suitable for a wide range of distribution, warehouse and light- manufacturing uses. Build- to- suits, including cross- docked and cross- loaded facilities, are available for sale or lease from 50,000 to more than 1.5 million square feet.
CenterPoint Intermodal Center's primary advantage is the significant reductions in average drayage and demurrage costs per container, due to the industrial park's proximity to the rail yard and its location in Foreign Trade Zone #22. Importers at the park can realize savings of $200 - $275 per container simply by locating at CenterPoint Intermodal Center v. locations as little as 5 miles away. In addition, an on- site container handling yard is being developed to provide approximately 1,500 container positions, offering further savings.
Existing customers include Wal- Mart, Maersk Sealand, Georgia Pacific, DSC Logistics, Potlatch, Inc., Sanyo Logistics, Partners Warehouse and California Cartage.
CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Rochelle
With 362 acres available for development, CenterPoint Intermodal Center in Rochelle, Illinois will ultimately contain more than 5 million square feet of industrial facilities. This is the ideal location for customers that rely on access to major transportation routes for efficient product movement.
