The Orlando Economic Partnership announced last week its “Orlando Regional Digital Twin,” developed with Unity Technologies, was named one of the 2022 “Next Big Things in Tech” by Fast Company magazine. The technology maps over 800 square miles to create a high-fidelity recreation of 40 square miles, incorporating 200 data points from more than 50 datasets. “It is recognition that our region is on the cutting edge of emerging technology,” said OEP President and CEO Tim Giuliani, “shaping the future by pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in experiential entertainment and immersive, data-driven economic and community development.” Site Selection featured the work of another digital twin creator, Ontario-based 3D CityScapes, in this 2021 spotlight on Ontario.
