On Monday, New Jersey–based Cambrex announced the completion of a $38 million, 70-job
capacity expansion at its small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredient (API)
manufacturing facility in High Point, North Carolina. “When we began this project in 2021,
our vision extended far beyond capacity,” said Tom Loewald, the Cambrex CEO Site Selection
interviewed in March 2022 about the company’s global growth. “We designed a
facility that can continue to deliver on client needs as the industry evolves, with
state-of-the-art technology and laboratory equipment, an energy-efficient infrastructure,
and clinical to commercial manufacturing scale.” Dan Bowles, vice president and general
manager of Cambrex High Point, said the expansion “would not have been possible without
the support of the state’s leadership and economic development programs, and their focus
on nurturing the region’s skilled and diverse workforce.”
In a city known for head-turning sights, the debut of MSG Entertainment’s Sphere has
turned Las Vegas on its head. The phenomenal site hosted a performance from U2 in a space
that seats up to 20,000 with standing room and has 10,000 seats outfitted with an
“infrasound haptic system so guests can ‘feel’ the experience.” In addition to a 16K x 16K
wrap-around screen in the theater that Sphere Entertainment calls “the highest resolution
LED screen on Earth,” the world’s largest spherical structure has a 580,000-sq.-ft.
“exosphere” that can display 256 million different colors to stunned passersby. This
rendering shows the structure’s scale and complexity.
The project’s LED technology partner is 7thSense, a creative software and technology
company with offices in Upper Beeding (Sussex) and London in the UK, and in Royal Oak
(Michigan), Orlando (Florida) and Burbank (California) in North America. “Sphere’s LED
displays redefine the meaning of immersive,” said David Dibble, CEO of MSG Ventures, a
division of Sphere Entertainment, in a release today, noting that the result of the
company’s work with 7thSense is “an experience that takes audiences from simply watching
content on an LED screen to feeling like they have been transported to new places.”
