Mckinley Conway Named Honorary Board Member of IAMC
COLORADO SPRINGS, April 27, 2010: Today, during the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) Spring Professional Forum, McKinley Conway was made an honorary board member of the association. A prolific writer and industry visionary, Conway and his company Conway Data helped create IAMC in the summer of 2002. His daughter and Conway Data president, Laura Lyne, accepted on his behalf. “Mac Conway was an integral part of the creation of IAMC,” said Jim Winter, chair of IAMC and global manager of corporate real estate for Alcoa Inc. “And, ever since, Mac has been a great supporter without whom the association would not be what it is today.” Born in 1920, Conway holds two engineering degrees from Georgia Tech. Over the course of his career, he has held positions with NACA/NASA and the Southern Association of Science and Industry (SASI). He served as chairman of both the Georgia Science and Technology Commission and the World Development Council. In addition to writing 47 books to date, he launched Industrial Development – now Site Selection magazine in 1954. It was the first publication to cover corporate facility planning, location factors, and area development. “Mac Conway is a stalwart supporter of IAMC,” said Ron Starner, executive director of IAMC. “He is a thought leader and an inspiration to the industry at large.” Conway Data continues to manage and staff IAMC. The association is led by its volunteer board of directors.
