Site Selection Names Its 2014 Global Best to Invest Locations

Atlanta, May 5, 2015: Site Selection magazine has named its seventh annual Global Best to Invest rankings for success in attracting capital investment. The 2014 rankings of countries reflect overall success by region and also on a per capita basis, recognizing the efforts of smaller markets. The rankings (see lists below) are based on a five-part index weighted heavily on Site Selection’s proprietary New Plant Database, tracking projects investing a minimum of US $1 million, creating 20 or more new jobs or involving at least 20,000 sq. ft. (1,900 sq. m.) of new space. Other criteria include location’s ranking on four other indices, World Bank 2014 – Doing Business 2015; overall rank in The Global Competitiveness Report 2014-2015 from the World Economic Forum; the Human Development Index from the United Nations Development Programme; and GDP growth.

“Countries in every region of the world compete aggressively for direct investment at home and from abroad,” says Mark Arend, Site Selection Editor in Chief. “Countries appearing on these rankings have demonstrated with actual project numbers and other measures that they have the location attributes most in demand by capital investors.”

Site Selection magazine, published by Conway, Inc. since 1954, delivers expansion planning information to 48,000 subscribers, many of them employed by fast-growing firms.
