need to learn about strategies for disposing of specialized real estate assets, especially manufacturing facilities.” “What are some recommended lease administration programs — what are other active members of IAMC using?” “Should I handle site searches in-house or hire a consultant to do them?”

These are just a few of the issues discussed at IAMC’s Spring Professional Forum, in Charleston, S.C., during the “Get Some Help” session, which made its debut at that event. Active, or corporate, members of the association were encouraged to submit questions concerning issues and challenges they face as corporate real estate managers. Those questions served as the basis for discussions in which other actives offered their perspectives. The session was highly rated by attendees, who valued the its interactive nature and the solid take-home content.

In this, our third annual IAMC Special Report issue, it is only fitting to draw your attention to the industry’s most effective association — the Industrial Asset Management Council, for which Site Selection magazine proudly serves as official publication. What makes this relationship so successful is the commitment both entities have to delivering top-quality content to our shared constituents — managers of industrial property assets.

To illustrate the synergy at work on behalf of those constituents, the person who asked the first question posed above will no doubt find some insights in this issue’s cover story on U.S. Steel’s asset disposition strategy. The person wondering about lease administration systems will find real estate technology case studies in each issue of Site Selection, in the Technology Toolbox column. And who runs a site search is addressed in article after article in these pages, with corporate executives themselves weighing in on the topic and consultants offering their views where appropriate.

The point is there are two high-end content-delivery mechanisms at your disposal, both of which provide strategic, take-home value you will not find elsewhere. If you read Site Selection and have not yet experienced an IAMC Professional Forum, then you’re missing out on half of what this synergy has to offer. You can learn about the Fall Professional Forum in Corpus Christi, Texas, at www.iamc.org.

I look forward to meeting you there.

Till next time,
