IAMC INSIDER

Dear IAMC Members and Prospective Members,

Just as we often ask ourselves on the job, I find myself asking this question at the end of my tenure as chair of IAMC: “Where did the time go?”

But I know the answer. It went into a year and a half of tremendous organizational accomplishments and development. There was sheer growth in our numbers – standing at 325 as of mid-January. There was the advent of IAMC Regions to bring in the new year. And we saw the quality of our semi-annual Professional Forums grow by leaps and bounds, including the Leadership Development and Research Roundtable components.

We are at a point of great momentum, and it gives me great pleasure to hand over chair responsibilities to my colleague Charles McSwain at a time of such solid organizational alignment. I extend a hearty welcome to new board members Bob Duncan, Ed Kelley, Pete Garra and Rick Little. And I want to give a special thank you for the hard work of retiring board members David Hirsch, Greg Long and Jack Logue. The value of our board members’ contributions is immeasurable, and is in large part responsible for the well-thought-out and smart ideas now helping IAMC grow.

Another large source of good ideas is Conway Data. I wish to thank our executive director, Ron Starner, and the entire staff at Conway and Site Selection for their tremendous support, unwavering diligence and quality work.

I have grown to appreciate the hard work put in by the IAMC board and staff. But my time with IAMC also is leading me to appreciate a broader spectrum of corporate real estate issues and responsibilities. I hope you are having the same experience — building your capacity as a professional even as you build new relationships and new company projects.

I put the challenge to you, the members, to further this dynamic experience through your own involvement and commitment to making IAMC great.

Warmest regards,

Bob Zane
