 PHOTO OF THE DAY

Among the leading proponents of ballooning and aeronautic adventuring of all types is the World Air Sports Federation (Fédération aéronautique international or FAI, based in Lausanne, Switzerland). This photo was taken by László Tóth at the 22nd FAI European Hot Air Balloon Championship in Szeged, Hungary, in September 2021. Today marks the 27th anniversary of late American businessman and adventurer Steve Fossett becoming the first person to fly solo across the Pacific Ocean in a balloon, landing in Leader, Saskatchewan, after taking off more than 5,400 miles away in Seoul, South Korea.
