member firm MACTEC, based in Alpharetta, Ga., is a $436-
million environmental, engineering, construction management, and infrastructure services firm with 3,000 employees in over 90 offices nationwide. A new partnership with an international firm more than twice as old, but with a similar number of employees, will extend the firm even further.
In early November, MACTEC announced the signing of a strategic alliance agreement with Netherlands-
based Royal Haskoning.
"Royal Haskoning will be looking to MACTEC to help them service their internationally-
based clients in the U.S.," said MACTEC Senior Vice President Richard Garrison. "We also see emerging opportunities to work with Royal Haskoning in China, where they have four offices, and as our primary international environmental partner."
Royal Haskoning was founded in 1881 and has 3,200 employees and 11 divisions spread across 59 offices in 26 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. That includes over 400 staff in 10 Asian countries. The firm's expertise lies across a range of practice areas from water management to building services, industrial installations to transport infrastructure. Its skill in working across borders was recognized in November with its receipt of the Anglo Dutch Award for Enterprise, given by the Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce to companies doing successful business in both markets.
Royal Haskoning is also actively involved with the implementation of the European Union's REACH (Registration, Evaluation & Authorization of Chemicals) legislation in industry, which prescribes new environmental and safety standards for the production and sale of chemicals, and which is due to take effect in April 2007.
