Past “Foot Traffic Ahead” reports have found Washington, D.C. (whose Georgetown neighborhood is shown here) eminently walkable.

Earlier this month, Cushman & Wakefield announced that the newly created role of Head of Data Science & Geospatial Analytics would be filled by Dr. Miguel A. Rodriguez, who will lead the firm’s newly hatched Quantitative Insights Group.
Rodriguez previously served as director of research at Smart Growth America, where his work focused on housing supply, zoning reform, infrastructure investment and walkability. In addition to contributing to past C&W reports such as Reimagining Cities and Workplace Ecosystems of the Future, his work at SGA included Foot Traffic Ahead, which evaluates walkability and real estate performance across leading U.S. metro regions. Site Selection first reported on the “Foot Traffic Ahead” data in 2014, in an Online Insider called “Do the Locomotion.”

To help us get a handle on a data center sector that one EPRI study says could consume 17% of U.S. electricity generation by 2030, the NC Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC) and the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) have created the Database of Emerging Large-Load Tariffs (DELTa), which they describe as “a living, public resource designed to help states and utilities plan for load growth, fairly distribute costs and benefits, and support policy objectives.”
Originally launched last July, the database contains contemporary utility rates, contracts and key service rules for large loads. NCCETC and SEPA track regulatory activity regularly and plan to update DELTa quarterly. DELTa offers an interactive map and database of large-load tariffs and service rules in the United States; case summaries and analysis of approved and proposed tariffs and service rules; and “a way to compare how different utilities are refining their approach for a large-load growth era,” say the organizations in a press release. They also offer a complete download of all DELTa data.

Amsterdam-based UNS in partnership with engineering consultant Werner Sobek announced last week the completion of Wasl Tower, a 302-meter (990.8-ft.) high-rise structure located off Sheikh Zayed road adjacent to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai’s city center. Completed in late 2025, Wasl Tower has one of the world’s tallest terracotta ceramic facades, UNS stated, explaining that the tower’s “responsiveness and ability to acclimate to harsh climatic conditions by way of passive shading and cooling techniques articulated throughout the facade set this building apart in the Dubai skyline. The building’s form morphs and folds to minimize solar incident heat exposure while maximizing the shielding effect of its abrasion and heat-resistant ceramic cloak.”
The 167,733-sq.-m. (1.8-million-sq.-ft.) structure houses the Mandarin Oriental Downtown hotel, residential units, offices and amenity spaces. UNS said the building “supports the UAE’s ambition to be a key player in sustainable transformation worldwide, while contributing to the city’s drive for world-renowned architecture over the next 100 years.”
Site Selection’s annual Sustainability Rankings appear in the publication’s forthcoming July 2026 issue. Last year the United States, Spain and Sweden topped the country rankings.
