A study from Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business found Super Bowl LIX generated $1.25 billion in total economic activity statewide, “more than doubling the impact of the 2013 New Orleans Super Bowl and ranking as the second most financially impactful Super Bowl of all-time,” said a release from Greater New Orleans Inc. and Louisiana Economic Development. The event’s impact included 9,787 jobs supported statewide and $658 million in spending by visitors and vendors, the study found.
Site Selection readers may recall a global-scale event that took place in New Orleans in the run-up to the Super Bowl: The city was a stop on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Alexis Elmore reported on that extravaganza’s own economic impact of around $500 million in the January 2025 article “The Era-placeable Impact of Taylor Swift.”
