Collins Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp., is establishing an aerospace innovation hub at its Changi MRO Campus dedicated to advanced maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) processes and operations, as well as additive manufacturing processes and capabilities. It is the company’s fourth additive manufacturing lab and the first center outside the United States. This hub is Collins’ first additive facility with titanium capability and will feature prototyping, development, tooling and ultimately low-rate production of additive materials. The Singapore facility is one of Collins Aerospace’s 15 Centers of Excellence and has delivered approximately 200,000 products to 280 customers since opening in 2005.
Collins is plenty busy in the States too. In addition to this carbon brake manufacturing facility expansion in Pueblo, the company announced plans earlier this month to open a new 40-job landing systems facility in Fort Worth, Texas, and to expand its carbon brake manufacturing facility in Spokane, Washington, with a $145 million investment. “As one of the aerospace industry’s leading providers of wheels, brakes and landing gear, we are committed to investing in our business to better serve our customers,” said Ajay Mahajan, vice president, Landing Systems at Collins Aerospace. “Once our projects in Fort Worth, Spokane and Pueblo are complete, we will have invested $225 million, while creating more than 100 new jobs across those communities.”
Last week, Fordham University’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) announced the newest addition to its academic offerings: a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate (BSRE). "Our BSRE offers current and prospective real estate professionals the opportunity to not only learn from some of the leading minds in the industry, but network with them through Fordham’s vast and loyal alumni network," Dr. Anthony R. Davidson, dean, Fordham PCS. "We’re delighted to give our students the opportunity to study all facets of the multidisciplinary field in the heart of the real estate capital of the world."
The news reminded us of a research exercise we undertook years ago to ascertain which university real estate programs specifically address the niche profession of corporate real estate — the bull’s-eye of Site Selection’s readership for 66 years.
