LANDED LEAD OF THE WEEK
BSH Hausgerate GMBH
Lead Signal: In December 2016, Conway Analytics delivered a Lead Signal indicating that German firm BSH was seeking to expand its presence in the Indian market. Demand for BSH home appliances had been growing by 50 percent for the prior two years. The company, a subsidiary of Germany’s Bosch Group, was seeking to expand from 70 brand stores to 200 over three years.
Project: In June 2018, BSH announced a $58-million investment in a new refrigerator plant in Sriperumbudur, India. The new plant will open in 2021 and produce 500,000 units per year. BSH is fully committed to the Indian market and will invest over $100 million over the next four to five years in products, facilities and R&D.
Nexteer Automotive has completed its third manufacturing facility in India. The new 90,000-sq.-ft. plant will increase production capacity for its electric power steering systems. Based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Nexteer Automotive is a leader in intuitive motion control for the automotive industry. Nexteer employs 13,500 people at over 30 sites around the world.
Catalent Pharma Solutions is investing $2.5 million in a second clinical supply facility in Shanghai, China. Scheduled to open in early 2019, the 30,000-sq.-ft. facility will employ 100 people and more than double its clinical storage capacity in China. Catalent Pharma Solutions offers clinical trial supply, packaging and storage solutions. Based in Somerset, New Jersey, Catalent employs over 11,000 people at 30 facilities around the world.
Founded in 1987 as the North Carolina Solar Center, the N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center today produces national reports on activity in all 50 states in such arenas as solar deployment, grid modernization and electric vehicle policies. It is based at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, and among its assets is the frequently updated Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE).
