As reported by MexicoNOW and others, Yinlun, a Chinese company that
manufactures chillers, battery heaters, refrigeration modules, heating
and radiators, has invested in this new facility in Salinas Victoria,
Nuevo León, where it expects to create more than 1,000 jobs. As a
release from the Nuevo León government explained, the plant comes just
after another newly opened plant in Ciénega de Flores, also in the
state, “and it is expected that the company will consider opening
another plant in the state.” The company, whose clients include
Caterpillar, Volvo, the Big Three and Paccar, operates other plants in
China, the United States and Poland. Nuevo León Secretary of the Economy
Iván Rivas said the automotive sector represents 26% of investments that
have come to the state since the current state administration took
office in October 2021.
As announced by GGBa Invest Western Switzerland (Greater Geneva Bern
area), global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO)
Siegfried broke ground last month on a new global R&D Center in Evionnaz
in the canton of Valais, investing 25 million Swiss francs to “boost
capacity, drive growth, and leading to the creation of over 100 skilled
jobs.” Set to begin operations in 2024, the facility will work in tandem
with the company’s R&D Center in Zofingen. The agency said Siegfried
chose Valais “due to its strategic importance within the company’s
network and its longstanding presence in the region. Valais provides an
ideal setting for the R&D Center, with its strong reputation in the life
sciences industry, skilled workforce and proximity to renowned research
institutions. The location also benefits from the region’s
infrastructure and accessibility, enabling efficient collaboration and
exchange with Siegfried’s global partners and clients.” Siegfried
employs more than 3,600 people across 11 sites on three continents.
Among the national award winners last week from the American
Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) was FreightWaves.com for website of the
year. A quick look reveals why it makes sense for anyone
involved in location decision-making to bookmark this site
for insights into global logistics. As the organization’s
slogan puts it, FreightWaves aims to be nothing less than
“the nerve center of the global supply chain.” Founded in
2016 by Craig Fuller and known for its deep data,
FreightWaves is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and
describes itself as “a work-from-home first company.”

Earlier this month, New York–based Architizer announced the 2023
shortlist for its A+Awards, which it calls “the world’s largest
and most democratic architectural awards program,” honoring the best
architecture and spaces from around the globe. From more than 5,000
entries from 96 countries, 592 finalists were selected in each of the
program’s 120 categories, with a strong focus on sustainability. Winners
will be selected in late May, followed by a live celebration of winners
at the Paris+ art fair in October.
Among the finalists is the BEEAH Headquarters, which officially opened
in Sharjah, UAE, in March 2022, nine years after its original
commissioning. The company called the structure designed by Zaha Hadid
“one of the most sustainable and smartest buildings in the world” that
set “a new benchmark for future workplaces as the ‘Office of the
Future.’ ” The HQ is equipped to operate at LEED Platinum standards and
realize net-zero emissions, the company said. “The distinct curvilinear
features of the headquarters mimic the intersection of sand dunes,
drawing from the desert landscape of Al Sajaa in Sharjah, where the
building is located,” said a release. “In addition to being a global
architectural icon in Sharjah, the Headquarters is a major milestone for
BEEAH, signaling its growth from a company founded to proactively tackle
environmental issues within the emirate and across the UAE, to an
international holding group with businesses in industries that are
critical to realizing a sustainable future.” Those include waste
management, recycling, energy, environmental consulting, technology,
education and green mobility.
