As reported by The New Indian Express and other outlets in July, Kitex Garments Ltd., based in Kochi, chose the state of Telangana over Kerala for this major investment that will be located at Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal. According to an agreement signed with the Telangana government last week, the company will also make a major investment in the industrial park in Sitarampur. The two-page document filed with regulators stated the following as rationale for the investments: “Telangana state is among the top three states for ease of doing business. Telangana state is the third largest cotton producer. Utilize attractive incentive scheme in Telangana Textile Apparel Policy (T-TAP). Utilize better logistics and infrastructural facilities. Reduced cost of labor and its availability. Overall cost reduction and thereby increase in profitability in the long run.”
Boeing announced September 17 it will invest in a new facility located at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah, Illinois, located just east of Belleville in St. Clair County in the greater St. Louis region, to build the MQ-25 Stingray, the Navy’s newest carrier-based aircraft, which the company has been flight testing from the site for two years. “We’ve received great support from MidAmerica Airport and countless dedicated employees, and we’re excited to build the Navy’s first operational, carrier-based unmanned aircraft right here in the Metro East,” said Kristin Robertson, vice president and general manager of Autonomous Systems, Boeing Defense, Space & Security. The U.S. Navy intends to procure more than 70 MQ-25 aircraft. Boeing is currently producing the first seven, plus two ground test articles, at its St. Louis facilities, where the MQ-25 program office, including its core engineering team, will remain. The new MQ-25 facility will be in addition to existing manufacturing operations at Boeing St. Clair, which produces components for the CH-47 Chinook, F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-15 and other defense products.

Beginning today, the U.S. Census Bureau is conducting a weeklong celebration of manufacturing with blogs, infographics and other key content on a Manufacturing Day webpage to recognize the observance on the first Friday in October, which occurs October 1. The Bureau got things started last Friday, when it shared an interactive visualization showing the value of shipments and employment for select manufacturing industries that produce housing-related products like paint, upholstered chairs, kitchen cabinets and other materials that make a home.

Innsbruck-based ATP architects engineers recently completed this facility in Pians, in the Austrian state of Tyrol, to house a production facility for meat and sausage specialties as well as an administration, retail and gastronomic wing for Handl Gastro Service. The building occupies a sloping site between the River Sanna and the road leading to the Arlberg region, Austria’s “cradle of Alpine skiing” with more than 190 miles of downhill runs. The building attracted widespread attention during its construction phase, says the firm, because the ATP-led integrated digital design process enabled the use of the world’s largest column-supported cross-laminated timber slab, thanks in part to a special adhesive technique and an innovative system of connectors developed by the University of Innsbruck and Rothoblaas.
