Nuclear Ecosystem Expansion
One of the latest nuclear energy investments in eastern Tennessee is coming from Centrus, as the company aims to expand in Oak Ridge. Centrus currently operates the nation’s only uranium enrichment centrifuge production facility and is looking to scale manufacturing output. A $560 million investment will enable the current site to undergo a transition to become a high rate manufacturing plant, resulting in thousands of advanced centrifuges to support the company’s Ohio uranium enrichment plant. Construction is expected to wrap in 2029, creating 430 new jobs.
