Press Release Site Selection Names Global Best to Invest Locations, Awards Prosperity Cup and Mac Awards for Excellence in Economic DevelopmentAtlanta, May 1, 2023: Site Selection magazine has released its annual rankings of Global Best to Invest locations, which will appear in the 69-year-old publication’s May 2023 issue. The rankings employ a robust index of business indicators including Site Selection’s own project data as well as data from UNCTAD, the World Economic Forum, Kearney, Startup Genome, the World Bank, OECD and Milken Institute to recognize the nations and metro areas with the most economic momentum and promise across several world regions. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and Ireland led the way on a global basis, with Ireland coming in No. 2 on a per capita basis. Among regional winners at the country level were UAE, Israel and Saudi Arabia in the Africa & Middle East Region; Australia, Singapore and China in the Asia Pacific Region; Lithuania, Hungary and Poland in the Eastern European and Central Asia Region; and Mexico, Brazil and Chile in the Latin America & Caribbean Region. Dubai, Barcelona and Frankfurt finished as the top three performing metros globally. “The 14th annual Global Best to Invest rankings showcase the top countries and metro areas in terms of their outlook for corporate investment,” says Adam Bruns, Managing Editor of Site Selection. “This year’s edition is based on an updated index modified from past years in order to infuse the rankings with relevant sources of fresh data.” In other rankings in the issue, North Carolina has won the Prosperity Cup, which is awarded to the most competitive state based on an index of 10 criteria, including project, capex and job creation data from Site Selection and data from the Tax Foundation, ACT and Beacon Hill Institute. North Carolina also won last year’s Prosperity Cup ranking. Texas was No. 2 in the Prosperity Cup rankings, followed by Tennessee. Rounding out the top 10 were Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, Michigan and Virginia.
