The last few weeks have been filled with news of major data center investments touching down in the U.S., among them Google’s $845 million Fort Wayne, Indiana, project and Meta’s $800 million Jeffersonville, Indiana, announcement. Then, last week, Amazon Web Services made a significant splash with word of a $10 billion investment for two data center complexes in Madison County, Mississippi. While it has not yet been announced exactly where both centers will be, the Mississippi Development Authority stated that Amazon would be building in two of the county’s industrial parks. “We’re excited to welcome AWS to Mississippi. This project demonstrates that our state has the robust infrastructure, business-friendly environment and available talent supply needed for a high-tech industry to thrive. It also demonstrates that our company is providing the affordable, reliable and diverse power necessary to help our state recruit new industry,” said Entergy Mississippi President and CEO Haley Fisackerly. This project marks the largest capital investment in state history and is projected to create 1,000 new jobs.

In a move that marks Germany-based supermarket company Lidl’s largest logistics investment made in Spain, a new $148.6 million distribution warehouse will come to life in the country’s Xàmenes Industrial Park. Located in Barcelona’s municipality of Martorell, the 1.3-million-sq.-ft. site will help the company in expanding its business development in northeastern Spain while supporting operations 30 miles northwest in Catalonia, Spain. The new warehouse represents Lidl’s largest logistics facility in Europe, offering 144 docks to support distribution to its regional network of 120 stores. The Martorell location, opening in 2025, will join the company’s 12 other locations in Spain, paired with the recent opening of its warehouse in Tarragona, Spain.
