In order to meet oxygen demands needed for ExxonMobil’s low-carbon hydrogen operations in Baytown, Texas, industrial gas company Air Liquide will step in to establish a new low-carbon industrial gas platform site. The up to $850 million investment will introduce four Large Modular Air (LMA) separation units on the 3,400-acre ExxonMobil site, located about 30 minutes outside of Houston. The platform will produce 9,000 metric tons of oxygen and 6,500 metric tons of nitrogen per day for ExxonMobil, in addition to gases such as argon, krypton and xenon to be made available to Air Liquide customers. “Our Baytown Low Carbon platform project demonstrates our capacity to innovate and leverage on our footprint in the U.S. to actively contribute to the decarbonization of the industry,” said Air Liquide CEO François Jackow. “Through this new agreement with ExxonMobil, Air Liquide is proud to support the development of what is poised to be the world’s largest low-carbon platform while reinforcing its gas offering in this key industrial basin. In line with our strategic plan ADVANCE, this major investment is a concrete example of our determination to embark on first-mover projects to contribute to the emergence of a low-carbon future.”

Global media streaming company Netflix has announced a $2 billion expansion of its Alburquerque, New Mexico, production hub. The six-year-old site is reflective of the company’s first production studio complex, housing eight sound stages on the 28-acre site. This expansion will bring four new sound stages, two stage support buildings, three mills, a production office and two backlot areas across its newly acquired 108 acres. In line with the company’s sustainability efforts the project will introduce on-site solar and battery storage systems, geothermal heating and cooling, EV charging stations and all-electric appliances. The investment will aid Netflix in growing its production capacity while supporting New Mexico’s film industry. For more on the project, Netflix’s history of studio expansions and the film industry’s impact in the U.S., see “From the Archives” in last Wednesday’s Site Selection Investor Watch.

Foxconn subsidiary Foxconn Singapore will grow its presence in Vietnam with a new project in the country’s northern Bắc Ninh province. The electronics manufacturer plans to invest $383 million for a new printed circuit boards (PCB) plant on 35 acres of the Nam Son-Hap Linh Industrial Park. Foxconn Singapore currently supports more than 60,000 jobs throughout Vietnam, operating locations in Bắc Ninh, Bắc Giang and Quảng Ninh. The latest facility will have an anticipated production capacity of 2.79 million PCBs per year. The company’s project is in line with its goal of advancing the country’s computing products sector and will follow the opening of Foxconn Singapore’s new 5G AirScale equipment factory, located 22 minutes away in the province of Bắc Giang.
