Stephanie Stuckey (pictured), chair of the iconic Stuckey’s Corporation founded by her grandfather, is the type of company leader who likes to get out on the road and chronicle her travels. This week her Instagram followers could find her making honey-roasted pecans at the company’s plant. But for a real humdinger of a story check out her 2022 TikTok video confirming a tale involving her grandfather and Chick-fil-A Founder Truett Cathy that she thought might have been company legend but was as true as the day is long.
Site Selection’s Ron Starner interviewed Stuckey about the revival of her company in this story published in December 2021.

Marlboro Development Team Brings New 100,000 SF Spec Industrial Building to Growing Myrtle Beach Market
The Marlboro Development Team (MDT) has completed construction on a state-of-the-art, 100,000 square foot speculative industrial building in Ascott Valley Industrial Park, Conway, South Carolina — adjacent to the bustling Hwy 22/US 701 corridor near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Designed to meet modern manufacturing and logistics demands, the tilt wall concrete facility features 32′ 6″ clear height, 50′ × 54′ column spacing with an additional 60′ × 54′ speed bay, and 200-foot truck courts. It comes equipped with 13 dock doors, one drive in bay, 1600 amp 3-phase power, LED lighting, and expansive room for future growth — expandable up to 150,000 SF on its 9.9-acre site.
Situated in the fully served 120-acre park (including rail access, robust utilities and proximity to Myrtle Beach International Airport and Inland Port Dillon), this project positions Conway as a compelling hub for industrial investment.
Backed by support from the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation (MBREDC), this project reflects MDT’s strategic approach to delivering high-quality, market-ready assets in growth-oriented regions, offering investors a prime opportunity in one of the Southeast’s most dynamic industrial corridors.

Among the many workforce and economic research resources at the Michigan-based W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research is its New Hires Quality Index (NHQI), the most recent edition of which was published this week about July numbers. The NHQI does not measure actual wages of newly hired workers but rather their earnings power as proxied by their occupation and demographic characteristics. The index shows “inflation-adjusted hourly earnings power of individuals starting a new job increased 0.2% between June and July of 2025, to $22.17,” the Institute said in a press release. “The index has risen 0.7% since last July but remains 0.5% off from its record peak in July 2023.

A stunning new book by British adventurer and photographer Aaron Rolph from Berlin-based publisher gestalten called “Alpine Refuges: The Architecture and Culture of Mountain Shelters” is so replete with jaw-dropping images we couldn’t share just one. Above sits Rifugio Passo Santner, located in the heart of the Dolomites in what the author describes as “a South Tyrolean refuge in the north of Italy,” not far from the Carezza ski resort. “Originally constructed in 1956 by the esteemed mountain guide Giulio Gabrielli from Predazzo,” Rolph writes, “it stood as a testament to human resilience against nature’s formidable backdrop. After years of closure, a renaissance began in 2018 when Michel Perathoner and Romina Huber undertook the mission to breathe new life into this alpine haven. Their vision culminated in a complete redesign by renowned Bolzano-based Senoner Tammerle Architekten, resulting in a structure that marries contemporary design with alpine vernacular.” The site reopened in summer 2023.
Below is an image of Cabane Tortin, near Haute-Nendaz, Switzerland. “Tucked into a high-alpine bowl above the Val de Bagnes, where the air thins and the silence deepens, Cabane Tortin emerges like a mirage — half mountain dream, half modern marvel,” Rolph writes of the new and luxurious refuge located near the lift-access freeride ski areas on the slopes of Verbier and Nendaz. “The Glacier de Tortin unfurls below, providing sweeping backcountry descents toward Siviez and Verbier.”
