Transforming stranded assets such as office parks and malls into
mixed-use districts “is a major opportunity to get creative and add
tremendous value” in growing suburban communities, says Gensler Chair
and Regional Managing Principal Joseph Brancato.
As reported by China Daily in December, Angel Yeast Egypt, a Chinese
company is building a new production line in a factory located in the
industrial zone in Beni Suef. The current operation employs nearly 900.
Khaled Rageb, chairman of the New Beni Suef City Development Authority
in Beni Suef Province, said of the company’s growth, “It is an
accelerating leap at all levels in terms of promoting environmental
protection and producing high-quality products and providing more jobs
opportunities for local people.” The expansion is projected to be
complete by May 2024. The $80 million expansion is supported by a $40
million senior unsecured loan approved in October 2022 by the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which reports that parent
company Angel Yeast China Ltd. is the third largest producer and
exporter of yeast in the world and the largest producer of yeast
extract.
As reported by Data Center Dynamics, The Economic Times and other
sources, hyperscale data center company CtrlS plans to expand its global
portfolio from 1.2 million sq. ft. to around 5 million sq. ft. by 2025
(25 facilities in all). This 2-million-sq.-ft. hyperscale site in Navi
Mumbai is a big part of that plan. The campus will combine with another
new 2-million-sq.-ft. site in Hyderabad and a new 1-million-sq.-ft. site
in Chennai to add over 600 MW of capacity to the company’s arsenal. The
company says it “is actively exploring opportunities in Saudi Arabia,
UAE, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam.” Another January press
release says it also plans to “set up over 20 Edge datacenters across
Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities of India in addition to other potential markets
in the coming years. Each Edge facility will offer up to 5 MW of
capacity.” The company, which launched in 2007, is also building a solar
park in Mumbai to power its facilities and reduce its carbon footprint.
One hundred startups from around the world will compete for
a share of US$1 million at the Entrepreneurship World Cup
(EWC) Global Finals, organizers announced in mid-February.
The finals are set to take place March 9-12 at Biban 2023 in
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Since launching in 2019, the
Entrepreneurship World Cup — co-hosted by the Global
Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) and the Small and Medium
Enterprises General Authority in Saudi Arabia, Monsha’at —
has attracted more than 400,000 registrations from 200
countries and connected founders with over $3 million in
cash prizes and another $256 million worth of perks and free
support and services, GEN says. This year’s EWC 100 breaks down
geographically like this: Europe (28), South America (20),
North America (14), Asia (17), Middle East (12), Africa (6),
Oceania (2) and the Caribbean (1).
