South Korea–based Kolon Industries has opened a new $600-million tire cord facility in Lai Uyen, Vietnam. The new facility will produce polyester tire cord fabrics for prime tire manufacturing customers such as Michelin, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Hankook and Kumho.
JTEKT Corporation recently held a ground-breaking ceremony for its new automotive steering system production facility in Tangier, Morocco, at the Tangier Automotive City. The new facility will commence operations in 2020 and will employ 60 people. The $23-million investment will allow JTEKT to produce 230,000 electric power steering systems. Based in Japan, JTEKT is one of the world’s leading suppliers of automotive components focused on steering systems, driveline, bearings and machine tools & mechatronics. JTEKT currently employs 45,600 people globally.
