“Today, real estate has become a driver of global commerce, particularly as the financial markets have recognized it as an asset that can be securitized and traded on the open market,” said Philip Feder, chairman of Paul Hastings’ global real estate practice, formed in 1990. “Winning this award is very significant, because it recognizes the global reach of the real estate practice at Paul Hastings. This is unique among international law firms.”

The firm maintains 11 offices worldwide, including the newest in Hong Kong, the result of a recent merger with the firm of Koo and Partners, in a move designed to function as an entr?e into China. Koo also operates an office in Beijing. The firm also maintains significant presence in the Atlanta and New York markets, the latter the result of the 2000 acquisition of prominent real estate firm Battle Fowler.

Of Paul Hastings’ 840 lawyers, 170 specialize in real estate. The firm recently moved into 70,000 sq. ft. (6,503 sq. m.) in San Francisco, its fastest-growing division, with the option to expand from its present six floors to eight.
