IAMC member James Zauher, president of the Economic Development Corporation of Shasta County, was glad to welcome to town in September 2004 all operations of Comptech Marine, maker of the Sky Ski Hydrofoil sit-down water ski. The firm's eight employees will occupy 7,000 sq. ft. (650 sq. m.) in Redding, with plans to hire more and to expand into a larger manufacturing facility. The company's Sky Ski product is receiving heavy media play on television and in action movies.
      "We're going to bring all of our operations under one roof, as we previously had Sky Ski in Lake Elsinore and manufacturing being done at Comptech USA, a manufacturer of aftermarket high performance car parts in El Dorado Hills," said Don Erb, company president. "I look at Redding and Shasta County as a friendly, low-cost, and tight-knit community that offers wonderful quality of life and skiing adventures year-round, be it snow skiing or water skiing, which makes it an ideal location for our company."
      "Sky Ski's decision to relocate to Shasta County is indicative of the recent surge in industrial prospect activity since the first of the year," said Zauher.
