BNSF Facilities Off
and Running in Calif., Texas

    BNSF, Hillwood and the M.T. Cole Trust have joined forces to develop 327 acres (132 hectares) of direct rail access at Logistics Park-Alliance Texas in Fort Worth, part of a larger development of some 1,671 acres (676 hectares) of land northeast of
BNSF's Logistics Park project at AllianceTexas will add around 16 million sq. ft. (14.9 million sq. m.) of industrial space to the already substantial Hillwood spread.
BNSF's existing intermodal facility, which currently handles around 500,000 lifts annually.
      The large-scope development is projected to yield an additional 16 million sq. ft. (14.9 million sq. m.) of industrial space and a potential 10,000 jobs and $40 million in property taxes.In addition, BNSF Logistics Center-Fontana is now under construction at the Kaiser Commerce Center about 13 miles (21 km.) west of San Bernardino, Calif. Scheduled to open during the third quarter of 2005, the facility will provide transload services for dimensional commodities such as lumber and steel, commodities that require warehousing such as consumer goods, and bulk commodities. In addition to BNSF's 38-acre (15.4-hectare) dimensional and bulk transload operation, ProLogis will develop an 849,000-sq.-ft. (78,872-sq.-m.) rail-served warehouse adjacent to the center.
      When completed, the combined California facilities will bring approximately 300 jobs to the area. Blaine Bilderback, director of development and acquisition; Vann Cunningham, assistant vice president; and James O'Neil, assistant vice president of property and facility management, are all IAMC members.
